YES! I did the Big Chop Finally ! You have NO idea how great it feels having my natural hair back! Last time that I saw my natural hair was probably when I was 6 or 7 years old, when my mom decided to relax my sister's and mine. She decided to do that because she was having a hard time fixing and styling our hair... c'mon, she had beautiful curly bouncy hair ♥.♥! Her hair texture was completely different from ours (since we got our dad's hair) so I don't blame her. Actually I enjoyed my relaxed hair and every year that I had it that way. But finally I got to the point where I make my own decisions regarding my hair and I decided that it was time for me to love my own natural hair type.
I started watching Youtube Videos that showed how to style 4C hair type, because I was pretty pretty sure that that was MY type. Each day I felt more & more in love with this videos and how beautiful my natural hair is or could be. And I decided to go for it and started my transitioning journey.
My transitioning journey was really hard, I needed so much time to fix my hair. Detangling my hair was such an issue, it took so much effort and it was really hard. I was not using heat in my hair on my transitioning process and I started using -sometimes- coconut oil instead, just to stimulate my scalp and massage it. At some point I was going to an Audition and I could not simply go with a Bun or some type of hairstyle.. I wanted to look as fabulous as I could. So I decided I wanted to straighten my hair :D. I did, and it turned out so beautiful and long that I actually thought on NOT chopping my hair :/
... BUT come on! I was loving already my natural hair so I didn't ! After this heat used, I did used heat a couple of times (wrong, I know) but I always used as much heat protection spray as I could. Finally this leads me to the day when I did my big chop.
So earlier this year I decided I wanted to do the BIG CHOP on summer ( y'all know heat it's not cool and less cooler when you have relaxed hair) and on Saturday's night (May 25, 2013) I was sleeping but I suddenly woke up MAD -really mad- I don't know why but I went to my mom's room and told her
- Please chop my hair ! -
She obviously didn't, but she told me to call my cousin ( who studied hair styling ) and I did. She was SO NOT cool with it, but it was my decision and it was already taken. So I did the big chop later that night and during the day I bought some things to style my beautiful short Afro :)
I'm super cool and happy with my decision and I do NOT regret it. I've never felt so beautiful and happier with my hair. (: I am willing to make hair tutorials and styling videos so please stay tuned and subscribe to my Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/shirleysway24) IT'S FREE! bye bye ! ♥
